We provide whole Family and Special Group events throughout the year. These events bring families and whānau together so they can enjoy quality time together, share peer support and information. Events are held across Auckland, so that families can find something local to them. 

Cost

Event admission is free, or heavily subsidised for Full APODC members (mum, dad, caregivers, the deaf child, and their siblings), whilst Associate Members (those interested in the needs of deaf children), can enjoy discounted rates.

We want to achieve a fully accessible environment and provide New Zealand Sign Language interpreters whenever needed.

Have a coffee on us! Join us at this family friendly cafe to meet and mingle with other parents of Deaf or Hard of Hearing children. The event will be hosted by our secretary Lydia Cook whose little girl has profound bilateral hearing loss and is aided by cochlear implant.

Join Clare from Raising Bilinguals for an insightful online workshop covering all things language acquisition for deaf children in the early years of development.

Clare will explore the critical importance of early and quality intervention, the need for access to native signing and spoken models, and strategies for building a rich vocabulary. She will also unpack the power of interactive reading and storytelling for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children through signed and spoken modalities. 

This workshop is designed to empower parents with practical tools to support and enhance the language development of their young deaf child!
